Flex mounts are exceptional for their convenience, affordability, and unobstructed viewing. These prints are high quality with very vibrant colors and good contrast. I have had flex mounted prints displayed in rooms for many years without people noticing what they really were. The moment I walk someone up close to see how the print is literally hanging on the wall, all by itself, everyone is always amazed. Without looking closely, most people assume this is a photograph that has been mounted to some sort of backing material.
Flex mounts are comprised of a paper print with four plastic attachment points on each corner of the back of the print that arrives rolled into a tube and includes aluminum pieces that when put together build the supporting back frame for the print. The back frame forms the shape of the letter “H” behind the print, with two supporting bars running vertically on each side and one supporting bar running across the middle of the print from side to side. When each of the four corners of the frame are slipped into the plastic clips on each corner of the print, the frame is then extended to hold it's shape tightly.
The paper used for the print is fairly thick and durable, similar to papers used for displaying advertisements at an industry tradeshow or movie premier. The paper also has a nice satin finish that shows no reflections or glare when viewing from any angle. The supporting back frame is made from thin aluminum providing a sturdy support while also being incredibly light weight.
Because of their simplicity, flex mounts are easy to transport and hang. But also, because of this, flex mounts are fairly easy to damage. Please handle with care when attaching to the supplied frame and hanging on the wall. This print style is not recommended if you are looking for something durable with long-term archival ratings to last multiple family generations, or something with protection for the print from the elements.
