Fine art paper prints are the most versatile option because you can frame or mount them in whichever style you please. This is also the most traditional offering I have available, and is still today, one of my favorite ways to present photographs for display on a wall. There is something special about displaying a paper printed photograph the same way it would have been done 100 or more years ago.
The printer, paper, and studio I use to have my prints made utilizes modern digital printing technology to produce the highest quality archival prints currently available. The paper, in particular, has been selected to showcase a traditional darkroom photographic aesthetic. There is very little texture on the surface of the paper, allowing the highest amount of detail and sharpness to be replicated on the print. This paper prints both color and black and white images equally well, with excellent contrast and vivid colors. The paper is also extremely archival and will last over 100 years with proper care. To maximize the lifespan of my fine art prints, they should not be exposed to direct sunlight and placed in a frame to protect from outside elements.
Fine art paper prints are very sensitive so I recommend leaving them in the plastic wrapping they arrive in and bringing them to your framing service fully protected. Images are printed with a two inch white border left around the image but they are easily damaged when handling. It is very easy to accidentally apply a permanent finger print or worse yet, mishandle the print and apply a crease, fold, or dent. You could also be simply be standing around an opened print with a group of people chatting about stories of the Sierra's or distant oceans when a bubble of spit or chunk of recently consumed food launches from someone's mouth directly onto the print. I have seen it happen so please beware.
We're talking art here. Everyone has their own preferences of what they like and don't. If you know what you want, you are good to go. If you are unsure about the ideal way to frame your fine art print, I suggest asking your framing service for suggestions or searching the many articles and blog posts available on the internet regarding matching a photograph to a frame, matte, and display space. One helpful note that I have found to work well with my aesthetic preference is to use a dark frame for a dark colored wall and a light frame for a light colored wall. This puts emphasis on the image and blends the artwork into its surroundings. A difficult factor in this equation though, is that the wall which the print will be displayed upon is not always a permanent decision. Because of this, many people simply focus on the best frame and mat combination to fit the photograph and not worry about where it will be displayed.
